The Montego Bay Revenue Centre is operating on adjusted business hours to facilitate work currently underway to carry out repairs to the air conditioning system at the location. On Tuesday, workers went on strike, protesting poor working conditions after complaining about the absence of a working air conditioning system. Some workers allegedly collapsed. Students will begin their CXC exams on Monday June 28. The Caribbean Examination Council, CXC, delayed the regional exams by two weeks following calls by the Caribbean Union of Teachers and the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund, UNICEF, for CXC to make further adjustments to this year’s examinations. On Wednesday, the Green Bond Project was launched by the Jamaica Stock Exchange and the Climate Change Division within the Ministry of Housing, Urban Renewal, Environment and Climate Change, the Green Bond Project is expected to explore the debt market as a source of financing for climate resilience and low carbon development in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean region. Green bonds are usually used by governments, banks, municipalities or corporations to fund projects that have positive environmental or climate benefits.
