National School Garden Grand Exhibition and Awards Ceremony 2026
@Jun 18 2026 05:00 PM
The National School Garden Grand Exhibition and Awards Ceremony 2026 is the culminating event of the National School Garden Project, bringing together students, educators, government officials, sponsors, and partners to celebrate the achievements of participating schools across Jamaica.
Pioneered in 2024 by Dr. Kasan Troupe, Permanent Secretary, the project supports the implementation of Jamaica's National School Nutrition Policy and Standards by promoting nutrition education, healthy lifestyles, food security, environmental stewardship, and experiential learning through school gardening.
Since its inception, the initiative has expanded to 79 schools, with 56 schools currently participating in today’s event, including, for the first time, 14 Infant Schools and 14 Special Education Schools.
Under the theme "From the Farm to the Table," the event will showcase how school gardens connect agriculture, nutrition, health, and education while highlighting the impact of hands-on learning on students and school communities.
Awards and Recognition
Schools will be awarded for their levels of involvement in the project. This includes Best School Garden, Best Dish, Best Display, Innovation and Overall Champion.
Special recognition will be given to schools demonstrating sustained commitment and excellence since joining the
programme.
The event will also feature the presentation of the Regional Trophy, with Region 5 being the inaugural winners in 2024.
