The service took place on at the St Augustine Kingston College Chapel on North Street in Kingston. He died on April 28 at the age of 82. Ambassador Johnson was a former Jamaica Labour Party Member of Parliament, Senator, diplomat, economist, lecturer and Ambassador to the United States. He was also High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Finland, the Kingdoms of Sweden, Norway and Denmark and Ireland, and Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS). The official memorial service the late Former Senator and Member of Parliament, Ambassador the Honourable Anthony Johnson, OJ, is to take place on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at the St Augustine Chapel, Kingston College Chapel, North Street, Kingston. In keeping with the COVID-19 measures under the Disaster Risk Management Act, it will take place with a restricted number of persons in keeping with the approved numbers for assembly at church services. Participating public officials at the Chapel will be limited to the Head of State, the Head of Government and the Leader of the Opposition in keeping with their ceremonial roles.
