PM Warns Of Tightening COVID-19 Measures If Numbers Keep Rising

As the number of COVID 19 cases continues to rise authorities are looking at tightening the COVID containment measures. In June, there was an average 52 COVID cases per day, however, so far in July, there have been 62 cases per day. Prime Minister Andrew Holness told the house of representative on Wednesday that the sub-committee of the Cabinet will be meeting this week-end to discuss the current situation.

Gov’t Holds High-Level Meeting With World Bank
Prime Minister Andrew Holness held a high-level meeting with representatives from the World Bank.
The meeting comes days after the World Bank (International Bank for Reconstruction and Development or IBRD) priced a catastrophe bond that will give the Jamaican government financial protection of up to US $185 million against losses from named storms for 3 Atlantic tropical cyclone seasons ending in December 2023.
