The Sterling Gospel Music Awards (S.G.M.A) was established to recognize talent and award excellence in the gospel industry. Endorsed by the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sports, the annual ceremony remains the first and only of its kind in Jamaica. This year marks the fifth staging of the event as it continues to evolve with the changing dynamics of the gospel industry, especially during these unprecedented times. On that account, the 2021 instalment will feature the introduction of the New Talent Showcase and several new categories to represent the changes in the industry caused by the pandemic. The press launch serves as the official springboard for a series of activities and announcements leading up to the main ceremony. The island’s Chief Medical Officer Jacquilne Bissasor Mckenzie, is warning against a false sense of security, as Jamaica’s COVID-19 figures trend downward.
